- There will be another memorization opportunity before finals. You will need to choose one of the following sections from “The Modest Proposal.” You will need to sign up and make an appointment at lunch or after school on Monday when we return if you choose to take advantage of this extra credit opportunity. You will need to print out the handout below and bring it to your recital. To earn extra credit you will need to memorize it precisely. These passages often use prepositions and other little words that are different from modern English. It’s important to render the memorization faithfully.
- There will also be two extra-credit essays, an analytical or an argument essay. You may choose one, not both. The extra credit essay will replace an earlier, essay grade. The argument essay will be at 7:45 on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 and the analytical will be at 7:45 on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. You will need to let me know if you intend to take advantage of one of these opportunities.
- Who should take advantage of extra credit opportunities? While it’s always good practice to write as much as you can, in terms of grades, students with borderline grades would most benefit from extra-credit. For example, if a student earns a 3 or 4 on an early essay and that grade is replaced with a 6 or 7 it will certainly raise the essay average.
